Abstract
Nostalgia, because it was originally treated as a disease, still has negative connotations. It is a dirty word because it is usually used to cut something down as not being rooted in reality, a person or an artwork for example. To say that one is nostalgic is to dismiss that emotion on the grounds that should one investigate the emotion itself one would necessarily find it to be unfounded in anything rational or concrete.
