Abstract

To create these three pieces Dylan entered the word ‘breathing’ into a public-access corpus comprised of news articles from the English-speaking world (https://corpus.byu.edu/now/). Language was then selected from the lines surrounding the most recent utterances of ‘breathing’ and pieced together to form the inflections of consciousness, anxiety and foreboding that you see here. The hyperventilation of the sleeping word.
